I sort of have a personal aversion to white denim, for the simple reason that the one pair i tried on a few years ago, I was convinced i was unable to pull off. So, if you would have asked me even just a few weeks ago, if i’d be succumbing to the season’s coloured slacks (read: hard to pull off) trend, i would have answered you a definitive no.
Blame it on the March 2011 issue of Nylon, featuring Kate Bosworth on the cover: the editorial for which is plastered all over my mood board and is slated to inevitably inspire my summer wardrobe, but the second i saw these cotton candy pink jeans i knew i wanted them bad. Spotted on a spontaneous shopping stint with my lovely mom, i couldn’t resist trying them on, despite my simultaneous hesitation as the memory of those god awful white jeans is firmly ingrained in my mind. As i picked them off the table to try them on, they were so unexpectedly soft to the touch, that i found myself instantly praying they’d be flattering. I was already sold. So voilà, my foray into the (pastel) coloured pants trend. This look is the perfect example of how i live in certain pieces, the sweater being an alternative option to the one i’m wearing here and these boots being my 24/7 footwear of late. And the pants? I swear if they didn’t make such an obvious statement, i’d wear them every day this summer. Yes, they’re THAT comfortable, folks.
