Beauty culture: BB creams

April 2nd, 2012

Had to touch base on the latest #beauty craze because it’s so prevalent this spring, it’s impossible to ignore. A skincare trend whose influence can be traced to the East of us, if you haven’t yet tried a BB cream–an Asian must-have, there’s no time like the present. Touted as multi-tasking skin enhancers/perfectors, Blemmish Balms (also referred to as Beauty Balms) yield a flawless glow that radiates from within– no easy feat, and in a nutshell, do the work of 3 prodz…in one! Hello quicker morning routine! Or…in my case, just more time left for deliberating on which roster of basics will make the #outfit cut…#yeknow.

Known for their lightweight, easily absorbing formulas, BB creams moisturize, conceal and perfect. I tend to reach for them on hurried mornings, or on the weekend when I like to wear even less makeup than my already pretty straightforward weekday routine. Teamed with a cream blush in a rosy shade and mascara, and I’m good to go. Easy Peasy.

Vichy’s NeoVadiol Lumière, Garnier’s Skin Renew and Marcelle’s Skin Enhancer make up 3 of the most popular BB creams on the market right now.

The skincare targeted Lumanize and Cover Girl‘s Tone Rehab 2-in-1, aren’t BB creams per se, but they yield even, luminous skin allthesame.

Judging by the word of mouth reviews that have recently crossed my path, Garnier’s BB cream is by far the most popular, often hailed as a gorgeous illuminator. My personal fave, lies somewhere between it (for days when I want a little thicker coverage) and Marcelle’s, which offers a lighter veil of coverage that I can’t resist. I layer it with this stuff for a little glow.
